Matina Gika
Founder & Director
Matina Gika brings over 30 years of international experience in academic and scientific conference management. She founded MeetingPlanner.gr in 2005 to provide full-service, high-level management of conferences in Greece, focusing on one event at a time.
Her expertise includes venue evaluation, budgeting, programme coordination, financial management, and on-site operations, with extensive experience in IEEE and other academic society conferences. Matina holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, specialising in Conference Centre design, Tourism, and Conventions. She has studied and worked in France, Germany, the UK, USA, and Canada, combining global insight with deep knowledge of the Greek conference sector.
Prior to managing MeetingPlanner.gr, Matina has been:
- Senior operations and conference management roles for major PCOs and convention centres in Greece.
- Director of Sales & Marketing at the Kos International Convention Centre, Greece.
- Executive Project Manager and sole Exhibition Manager for the 1998 ESMO Congress in Athens (6,000 participants, USD 4 million budget).
She currently resides in Abu Dhabi, UAE, while remaining personally engaged in every project, from proposal to post-conference reporting.
Popi Patsouli
Operations
Popi Patsouli is a lawyer with experience in civil and business law and office administration. She oversees operations and contracts at MeetingPlanner.gr, ensuring that every conference runs smoothly, on time, and on budget.
Her responsibilities include:
- Coordinating teams and committees.
- Managing timelines and budgets.
- Maintaining communication with all stakeholders.
Popi’s role is central to upholding the high standards of service and reliability that define MeetingPlanner.gr.
George Stouraitis
Logistics, IT & Registration
George Stouraitis is our logistics, website, registration, and IT expert. He holds a Bachelor’s in Physics from Columbia University and brings a methodical, problem-solving approach to conference management.
George manages:
- Integration and management of registration platforms (IEEE, EDAS, Cvent, etc.).
- Conference websites and online communications.
- On-site IT and logistics support.
- Data management, reporting, and GDPR compliance.
His expertise ensures that technical and logistical aspects run seamlessly, letting participants and committees focus on the academic content.
